Overview
In 2005, the Spanish Land Cover and Land Use Information System (SIOSE) was launched, integrating the information available from the Autonomous Communities (CCAA) and the General State Administration (AGE) and generating a land cover and land use database for the whole of Spain at a scale of 1:25,000 for the years 2005, 2009, 2011 and 2014.
Its main features include:
- Cooperative production scheme between the General State Administration and the Autonomous Communities.
- Object-oriented data model
- Scale 1:25.000
- Avoiding duplication and reducing costs in the generation of geographic information.
- Satisfying the requirements and needs of the European Union, the General State Administration and the Autonomous Communities in terms of land cover and land use.
- Integrate the information from the land cover and land use databases of the National Government and the Autonomous Communities.
Currently the SIOSE project at a scale of 1:25,000 is no longer in production.
