Labels
As in the High Resolution SIOSE (SIOSE AR), the polygons in the traditional SIOSE are associated with a land cover or a combination of several land covers, with their respective occupancy percentage (%) or presence within the polygon. Additionally, they can include specific attributes depending on the land cover type.
The representation of land cover, percentage, and attribute information follows the same schema as that used in the SIOSE AR, ensuring consistency in data structuring.
The differences between the traditional SIOSE (2005-2014) and the SIOSE AR are minimal, although the traditional model introduces some specific concepts:
- Coverage Nesting: The coverage label allows nesting of classes within others through the use of parentheses, facilitating the representation of complex combinations of coverages.
- Predefined Composite Classes: Predefined composite coverages are incorporated, which group sets of recurrent coverages in the territory under a standard classification.
The label is the code that indicates the type of coverage assigned to a SIOSE polygon. It consists of coverage and attribute labels, represented by two- or three-letter abbreviations, allowing for the ultimate level of photointerpretation of coverage.
The list of labels used in the SIOSE model is documented in the file "Coberturas_Atributos_SIOSE.pdf", which details all possible combinations and their meaning.
- Simple coverage
It is represented by a label consisting of three capital letters. Each label is accompanied by two digits to indicate its occupancy percentage within the polygon or composite coverage to which it belongs.
In the case of polygons with 100% simple coverage, the value 100% is ignored and is only indicated by its 3 capital letters.
EXAMPLE:
100% Forest trees / Deciduous / Deciduous.
SIOSE LABEL= FDC - Composite/non-predefined composite coverage
The first label is a letter that indicates the "spatial distribution" attribute of the coverages in the composite, which are association ("A"), regular mosaic ("R") and irregular mosaic ("I").
It is followed by a parenthesis "( )", within which are included the labels of all the coverages (simple and/or compound) of which it is composed, separated by an underscore "_" and two digits indicating the percentage of occupation within the polygon or the compound to which it belongs. Successive parentheses will be opened within the first one as composite coverages exist within.
EXAMPLE:
100% Composite Coverage in "Association" formed by several simple classes:- 45% Scrubland
- 35% Conifers
- 10% Grassland
- 10% Rocky outcrops and crags
SIOSE LABEL= A(45MTR_35CNF_10PST_10ARR) - Predefined composite coverage
They are labeled in the same way as non-predefined ones, with the exception that the first label, before the parentheses, does not indicate the "spatialdistribution" attribute but corresponds to the label of the predefined compound in question.
EXAMPLE:
100% predefined composite coverage "Hotel Complex" formed by the following simple covers:
- 35% Buildings with the "detached block" attribute
- 55% Green space
- 10% Roads
- 5% Artificial water surface.
SIOSE LABEL=TCH (35EDFea_55ZAU_10VAP_05LAA)
EXAMPLE:
100% predefined composite coverage "Hydroelectric Dam" formed by the following simple covers:
- 25% of buildings between party walls
- 25% of roads, parking, and pedestrian areas
- 35% of other types of buildings
- 15% of artificial green areas
SIOSE LABEL=NHD (35OCT_25EDFem_25VAP_15ZAU)
They are indicated by two lowercase letters following the coverage to which they are assigned, except in the case of non-predefined composite coverages, where the "SpatialDistribution" attribute must be assigned.
MORE EXAMPLES:
100% Pasture with the "Firebreak Function" attribute
SIOSE LABEL = PSTfc
100% composite coverage in "Regular Mosaic" of 50% simple herbaceous crop coverage with the "Irrigated-Watered" attribute and 50% predefined composite coverage "Camping", composed in turn of: 70% undeveloped land, 15% buildings, "Isolated Building" attribute, 10% artificial green area and urban trees, and 5% water depth.
SIOSE LABEL = R(50CHLrr_50TCG(70SNE_15EDFea_10ZAU_05LAA))
The SIOSE data model and the SIOSE label are described in detail in the project's technical documentation, in the "Documentation" section.
